IN THE SPOTLIGHT

BIG BUCK CONTEST
ENTER TODAY

Send in your favorite “Big Buck” photo and story for a chance to win a $100 Cabela's Gift Card.

If you’re hunting deer in Mississippi during the 2008 hunting season, you could win a $100 Gift Card for Hunting, Fishing & Outdoor Gear from Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter.

Just Email us a picture of you with your “Big Buck” along with your name and where and when the buck was taken. Entrees will be judged by the size of the buck and the points on the rack. In the event of a “close call”, extra credit will be given for the best story about your “Big Buck” hunt. Just a couple of paragraphs would be great!

The winner will be chosen at the end of the 2008/2009 Mississippi Deer Hunting Season. The winning photo and story will be posted on SportsmenZone.com. All photos and stories submitted to the “Big Buck” contest become the property of SportsmenZone.com and may be posted on this website at our discretion.

To Email us your “Big Buck” photo (and story if you can) CLICK HERE.

Good Luck, Glenn.

Archery Season is Here!

Well, here we are again. The start of the 2008-09 hunting season has kicked off with Dove season. Hunters will enjoy a 70 day season with a daily bag limit of 15 birds.
For the avid hunter, it seems that deer season is the most anticipated. Archery season starts October 1 in Zone 1, October 15 in Zone 2. Being a bow hunter, I have found it to be one of the most challenging aspects of hunting, but nothing seems more rewarding than the success of taking a deer with a bow. But with all the different types of bow, sights, etc; It still seems to come down to your individual skills, which makes this sport so rewarding. If you don't bow hunt, try it, or talk to someone who does. You will find out just how rewarding it can be.

Buy a license, not only is it the law, but license sales help fund the agency and its programs. Support by sportsmen sales are vital, because federal money is allocated to states based on license sales numbers.

Good Luck, Glenn.
